Around 2010, my wife and I found ourselves in a perfect storm scenario for going
out. We had a little bit of money in our budget for food & drinks, our kids were old
enough to leave at home without a sitter, and we lived in a cool part of Charlotte,
NC with some great spots for food & drinks. We found the spots we liked and
frequented those, but the issue we had was remembering who had what specials on what
night. We used Google, we checked places websites or socials, we took pictures of
their happy hour menus to check later, etc. but none of those were great for solving
the problem. We always said to each other (a lot), "I can't believe there's not an
app for that."
Fast forward to 2024: I had some time and was looking for a project to dive into,
this idea was still there. I looked around and still didn't find a great way to
solve the problem. So I started work on Dunata.
When you ask people what they had, you often hear "I did the buffalo wings" or "We
did the half-price wine". So when you have a special at a place, it's
Done-at-a-place: Dunata.place.
We launched in Charlotte, NC and are focused on building out
our places there. But Dunata starts with you! Anyone can add places! So if you like
the concept of the app, and want a way to keep track of your local specials, start
adding places. Get the restaurant managers engaged. Tell your friends. It will work
anywhere there's people who want to use it!
Yes! As a business owner or manager, you can "claim" the place and maintain the
specials information. We have an automated and manual claim process you can complete
in the app.
We do our best to keep special info up to date, but they are mostly maintained by
the community or place owner/managers. Check with the restaurant staff & let them
know. If they're not currently managing their own specials, let them know they can
claim the restaurant and then manage their own special information. If they don't
want to claim their place, let us know at support@dunata.place
and we'll take care of it.
That's great! We're always looking for enthusiastic ambassadors! Let us know at support@dunata.place. We'll verify the
current ambassador isn't actively updating it and we can transfer the role to you.
